Things to do for children in East Yorkshire

We have lots of ideas on how to keep the little ones entertained whilst you stay in East Yorkshire. On the farm children will enjoy watching the resident farm animals, playing on the grassed area in front of the fields. There are so many fun and exciting activities for families with children in the area. Here are some suggestions:

Close to home we have a children's playground in the village or a swimming pool and soft play centre just two miles away or you can venture a little further. Lot's to keep the younger visitors amused...

Within a couple of miles you will find all sorts of activities to keep the children occupied - horse riding, swimming, running around in the soft play at Mega Fun or maybe pick up a Treasure Trails walk from the local Tourist Information Centre guided walks with a fun theme to keep the children engaged.

Head to the coast for a day rock pooling at Flamborough. The Living Seas Centre at Flamborough has lots of information and they organise guided events on the beach through the summer and school holidays. On the northern side of Flamborough Head is Bempton and the sea bird cities - great for seeing Puffin's in spring!

At Hornsea the Honeysuckle Farm petting farm is the perfect opportunity for kids to get up close, take a cart ride or jump around on the hay bales. Closer to the cottages you can try Cow Cuddling, Highland Cattle Trekking, Alpaca Walks, all an opportunity to get up close and personal with these lovely animals.

William's Den indoor/outdoor adventure play area is guaranteed to keep the kids busy, or Let Loose adventure centre in Beverley has High & Low Ropes, a climbing wall, super slide and an adventure playground. Beverley also hosts 2 Escape Rooms and an exciting trampolining centre. Other indoor entertainment opportunities include swimming, ten pin bowling or indoor climbing!

The Hull museums are a great day out with free entry and bite sized attractions - not too long that the kid's get bored and turn off. They include Streetlife Museum, which offers a range of interactive exhibits and activities for children. Whilst in Hull don't forget to visit the The Deep, an award-winning aquarium that is home to thousands of sea creatures, including sharks, rays, and turtles.

You can get to York within 40-50 minutes and try the Jorvik Centre (paid) or the National Railway Museum (free entry). You could venture out to Pickering for the Steam Train & Flamingo Land theme park.

These are just a few examples of the many fun and exciting activities for families with children in East Yorkshire, so there's plenty to explore and enjoy for all ages! See the in cottage information book for more ideas or our digital guide.
