Renewables and a focus on nature and wildlife

We have always adopted a sustainable approach, using traditional construction methods, reclaimed materials and using timber grown on the farm. We use renewable technologies with ground source heat pumps, solar thermal and we generate our own electricity.

Over the past few years we have been on quite a journey to reduce our carbon footprint saving over 10 tonnes by making several small incremental changes like hanging our washing to dry and by renegotiating our supply contact to zero carbon. All this in the background whilst ensuring our guests have a comfortable & luxurious stay.

Throughout the year, our farm is home to an array of wildlife, from owls to hares, squirrels, deer, pheasants, many, many rabbits plus our resident buzzard, some of whom you may be lucky enough to spot during your stay. Closer to home our sheep and chickens live alongside the cottages and at certain times of year you might be treated to a cuddle with a sweet, woolly lamb.

Walking, sightseeing and relaxation

Situated just two short miles from Beverley and within easy strolling distance of Walkington village with its three welcoming pubs, Broadgate Farm might be in the countryside but it is anything but isolated. We are on a bus route and there is a train station in Beverley 2 miles away. Whatever you are looking for from a holiday, you will find it nearby.

While the bustling market town of Beverley offers restaurants, shopping and picturesque wanders over the pretty Beverley Westwood park, further afield, but within manageable reach, you will find the iconic city of York; home to the famous Minster, Jorvik Viking Centre and the Shambles, as well as up-and-coming Hull, home to The Deep, our award-winning aquarium.

The breath-taking Yorkshire coast and atmospheric North Yorkshire Moors are but a stone’s throw away too, giving our guests endless options for long walks and other outdoor pursuits.
