Paws on the Paths directly from our Gate

You do not need to load your muddy companions into the car to enjoy a fantastic walk in the fresh air. Our holiday cottages feature beautiful walking loops starting right at our front gate, including a peaceful eight kilometre route that is perfect for morning strolls and a longer twenty kilometre trek for high energy breeds.

To ensure a completely stress free arrival, a dedicated collection of local walking leaflets and maps awaits you inside your cottage. Your property also features its own private enclosed garden or courtyard, providing a secure outdoor space where your pet can safely relax.

To find the absolute best canine approved routes in the area, we highly recommend checking out Walking the Wolds, a brilliant local resource created by Mrs M and her famous fox red retriever, Bill. This friendly online community shares tested, easy to follow walking guides specifically designed for people exploring the region with their dogs.

Their free downloadable route instructions include helpful details like exact parking spots, clear postcodes, and trusted recommendations for local dog friendly cafes and pubs along the way. It is a wonderful tool to help you plan your itinerary and uncover hidden gems across the hills.

The Wide Open Space of Beverley Westwood

Located just a short walk Beverley Westwood offers a spectacular, uncrowded landscape that is a legendary favourite among dog walkers. This massive historic common pasture provides endless space for your dogs to follow new scents and explore the grassed contours. While walking here, you can take in panoramic views of the town skyline, spot the historic Black Mill landmark, and wander under the beautiful tree canopies of Burton Bushes wood. Be aware cattle roam freely across the pastures during the summer season.

The Scenic Risby Round and Local Woods

For a lovely day trip just two miles down the road, The Risby Round offers a popular three mile circular trail winding through the scenic parklands of Risby Park. This easy path provides wonderful valley views and plenty of hedgerows for sniffing, starting and ending at a beautiful woodland clearing.

After your ramble, you can relax at the local lakeside café terrace where dogs are always fussed over. If your dogs love exploring the woods, nearby Nut Wood and Folly Wood provide beautiful canopy walks that become spectacularly carpeted with wild bluebells every spring, presenting the perfect backdrop for vacation photos.

Dog Welcoming Pubs in Walkington Village

After an exhilarating country walk, there is nothing better than finding a cosy corner where both you and your pet can unwind. A beautiful, safe footpath leads directly from our farm down into the peaceful village of Walkington, located just a mile away, where all three village pubs offer a very warm canine welcome.

You can drop into The Barrel for a well kept real ale by their roaring open fireplace, enjoy a hearty home cooked meal inside the bar at the Ferguson Fawsitt, or sit out in the spacious beer garden at the Dog and Duck. Fresh water bowls are always readily available for thirsty dogs.

Coastal Strolls and Riverside Ambles

If your dog loves a splash in the water, the surrounding region offers magnificent watery adventures. You can take a tranquil stroll along the historic banks of Beverley Beck, following the peaceful waterway past traditional barges to spot local swans and ducks. For a day out by the sea, the sweeping sandy beaches at Fraisthorpe, Hornsea, and Bridlington provide excellent off lead running space during designated seasons.

Your dogs will love racing through the surf and exploring the chalk cliff pathways around Flamborough Head before returning to the farm to snooze by the woodburning stove.
