Discover Family Fun on the Farm

Children love the simple joys of farm life, from watching our resident animals graze to running around on the spacious communal grassed areas right in front of the fields. It is an idyllic setting for outdoor play, fresh air, and animal spotting.

For a classic day out close to home, the peaceful village of Walkington features a lovely children's playground just a mile down the footpath, while nearby Beverley hosts an excellent swimming pool and a popular soft play centre less than two miles away.

Active Adventures and Play Parks

If your children have energy to burn, the surrounding countryside boasts fantastic adventure parks and activity centres. William’s Den is a brilliant place to take the kids to blow off some steam, designed with the idea of bringing the outdoors in, the indoor den is a spectacular structure made from reclaimed wood, with a sand pit and water features for children of all ages to enjoy. Outdoors, you can play on the zipwires, build a den out of sticks and explore. They also have a lovely restaurant and ice cream parlour.

In Beverley, older children and teenagers can test their puzzle solving skills at two exciting escape rooms, bounce at the local trampolining centre, or enjoy afternoons filled with ten pin bowling and indoor climbing walls.

Animal Encounters and Petting Farms

The region offers unique opportunities for children to get up close and personal with a variety of animals. At Hornsea, the popular Honeysuckle Farm petting farm lets kids enjoy tractor cart rides, bounce around on giant hay bales, and feed the animals. Closer to your holiday home, families can book specialized rural experiences, including gentle alpaca walks, highland cattle trekking, and even cow cuddling sessions.

For coastal nature, head to Flamborough Head for rock pooling, where the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Living Seas Centre hosts brilliant guided beach events throughout the school holidays.

Free Museums and Deep Sea Discoveries

Hull provides an exceptional day out for families, offering a collection of fascinating council run museums that are completely free to enter. These bite sized attractions are perfect for shorter attention spans, allowing children to clamber on board vintage trams at the Streetlife Museum or look at the giant woolly mammoth at the Hull and East Riding Museum.

No family trip to Hull is complete without visiting The Deep, a spectacular waterfront aquarium where children can gaze into massive tanks filled with thousands of sea creatures, including majestic rays, sea turtles, and sharks (this venue paid).

Miniature Villages and Historic Day Trips

Further along the coast at Bridlington, families can discover the enchanting Bondville Model Village. This accessible, seasonal attraction features a delightful treasure hunt winding past two hundred miniature buildings and eight hundred tiny residents, ranging from a tiny castle to a replica pub.

Less than an hour away the historic city of York hosts the interactive Jorvik Viking Centre and the free National Railway Museum, while Pickering offers thrilling steam train rides on the heritage railway alongside the rollercoasters and zoo at Flamingo Land.
