For more about      MOBILITY  *  AUTISM  *  DEMENTIA

Most of the cottages have ground floor bedrooms and bathrooms for those with limited mobility, the cottages are spacious so plenty of room to get around. Ask about our new range of mobility aids that we can have ready for you in the cottage on arrival, they include portable toilet frames, shower stools and raised toilet seats. Just give Elaine a call and we can work out what you might need.

“My husband is seriously disabled and uses a wheelchair but the ground floor bedroom with adjoining wetroom were ideal for his needs” Trip Advisor August 16

If you need to locate local carers or for us to take delivery of any special equipment such as hoists or oxygen etc just let us know we are always happy to help.

We know that not everyone has a mobility related disability and we have also thought about what might help guests with autism, dementia or a visual impairment. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch so we can ensure that the cottage you choose suits your needs.

Accessibility Guide Introduction Mobility 1 logo

Our self-catering cottages are located on our farmstead just outside the village of Walkington in East Yorkshire. All our cottages have been converted from former farm buildings during 2009/2015 to current building regulations standards so the doors are wide enough etc.

Most of our cottages are suitable for people with mobility disability, we have also made adjustments for guests with dementia, autism and visual impairment. If you would like to call and have an informal chat we can work out together how suitable the various cottages might be to your needs, we are also happy to make adjustments where possible.

We have tried to provide as much information as possible in this statement but don’t hesitate to pick up the phone (01482 888111) and give us a call if you have any queries. When you have special requirements it is always best to talk to use – there may be something we can do help make the cottage more suitable for you.

In all cottages but Foldyard, Cart House and Courtyard Cottage the facilities cover 2 floors, five of our cottages, The Stables, Foldyard, Cart House, Courtyard and The Barn House have ground floor bedrooms and bathrooms. The ground floor wetrooms have grab bars and we do have a range of portable mobility aids available for guests to use, available free of charge but they do have to be pre-booked so if you need something like a shower stool please give Elaine a call. If you need to hire in additional equipment we are always happy to take delivery for you.

This page tells you about the general facilities in the cottage – all the gardens have a hard standing patio and we have a section in the in cottage Guest Information book that covers the many accessible venues and activities in the area.
