If you have ever holidayed with friends, chances are you have experienced that awkward bedroom selection moment.

You know the one – everyone’s arrived and the first bottle of prosecco has been been popped, but overnight bags remain firmly shut, awaiting the allocation of bedroom space.

Everybody wants the master suite, but no-one wants to appear greedy or impolite, and so the questions hang, unresolved…who really deserves the most luxurious room? Who needs an ensuite more than everyone else?

It might be over in minutes, but that one small conversation can put a real dampener on an otherwise joyful reunion, and the final decision can often leave at least one member of the group quietly unhappy.

At Broadgate Farm Cottages you can choose from three 2 bedroom cottages that have ensuite or private bathrooms, Stables has a first floor master suite with king bedroom and a large bathroom with bath and separate shower, downstairs there is a flexible twin/superking bedroom and adjacent easy access wet room. The 2 bedroom Cart House  & Courtyard cottages both offer two large bedrooms each with an en suite.

For a larger group opt for our four-bedroom Cart House, bringing together the bright and airy Cart House cottage and light and spacious Courtyard Cottage, and up to 4 couples can each make the most of a beautifully furnished bedroom with en suite bathrooms.

With fewer difficult choices to make, no morning bathroom queues and no more long midnight wanders to the loo, you and your friends can get on with the important jobs of bonding while you wander through the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, feasting around the large dining table and indulging in late night fireside chats over a G&T or four.

Multi-generational breaks can be especially hard to organise. From small children to mum and dad and granny and grandpa, everybody has a different set of needs.

Our Barn House is the perfect example of this, combining the useful accessibility of a downstairs king-size bedroom complete with an accessible walk-in wetroom, with a generous configuration of bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs.

This means that while grandparents can take advantage of a large and well-appointed space without the trouble of steps and stairs, plus bonus peace and quiet, the rest of the family have the run of the first floor.

Here there are two large bedrooms – one king-sized with ensuite shower facilities and one a flexible superking/twin with a private bathroom featuring a bath and separate shower, which couldn’t be more ideal for the couple with young children in tow.

In addition to convenient parking, a peaceful location, secure gardens and plentiful space, many of our holiday cottages offer ground floor private bathroom facilities for those who struggle with stairs, as well as the option of wet rooms, which can make life so much easier for less mobile guests.

Additionally, having plenty of loos means there is no need to worry if someone is caught short during the busiest bathroom hours and nobody feels under pressure to move fast when carrying out their morning ablutions – after all, this is a holiday for everyone!
