Lambing...... It has been a difficult start for the lambs this year. We started lambing just as the "Beast from the East " hit which meant cold nights out in the lambing shed for Steve and a cold start for the new lambs. As the weather improved we got the ewes and new lambs out into the paddocks, the ewes need some good grass to help ensure that they have enough milk for the lambs. Then came another bad spell of weather, prolonged cold and wet weather was just too much for the little ones so everyone was back in the lambing shed all tucked up.
They are all out at the moment but in one of the side paddocks so they can get back into the lambing shed if they want a bit of shelter or to sleep on a night. We are so ready for the good weather forecast for next week with rising temperatures coming this weekend. We need a prolonged period with no frosts so the grass can grow!
We have just taken delivery of our fireball - we will be re-landscaping part of the area outside the cottages over the coming weeks and this will be taking pride of place!
