Covid-19 update - more changes!

We all find ourselves in national lockdown again.

Whilst in Lockdown we can not accept leisure guests - we can take some booking eg people travelling for essential work purposes & there are other exceptions such as people whose primary residence is unavailable to them or people travelling for a funeral.

Covid Lockdown Guarantee

We have introduced a lockdown guarantee, if we have to close due to government order or the postcode on the booking form is affected by a local lock down we will do all we can to re-arrange your holiday. If that is not possible we will arrange a refund of your accommodation costs (less the 5% non refundable booking fee).

Please consider UK travel insurance, there are many policies out there now that cover for various Covid related issues as well as other things like jury duty or redundancy.

Changes we have made

We have complied with all the requirements, the risk assessment is in place and we have developed new ways of cleaning the cottages to ensure that we can achieve the covid secure accreditation with both the AA & Visit England. You can be assured that we have thought through the risks and changed the way we work.

The cottage has been thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected/sanitised before your arrival. All our staff wear ppe and maintain hand hygiene whilst they clean and prepare your cottage and have been trained in the new way of working.

We offer contactless check-in with an individual key code, f we pop round to greet you we won’t enter the cottage and we will keep our distance. If you prefer us not to greet you call 01482 888111/07770 358085 on arrival so we can just run through a couple of things with you. If it is wet or cold we will call you rather than come round to the cottage.

You will need to comply with the guidelines and regulations in place at the time of your stay - if you have concerns please get in touch.

We will be gathering details of guests names for Track and Trace, whilst you are here please comply with regulations about visitors to the cottage. In most cases visitors are not permitted at the moment.

Despite all the extra work involved in the changeovers we are keeping to our original check in/check out times of 4pm/10am respectively, please understand when we can't accommodate an early check in or late check out.

What has changed at the cottages?

Check in is contactless, each guest is issued with a personal key code so you can let yourself into the cottage on arrival. If we pop round to greet you after arrival we won’t enter the cottage and we will keep our distance. If you prefer us not to greet you call on arrival 01482 888111/07770 358085 so we can just run through a couple of things with you and answer any questions you might have.

Recognising that guests may wish to clean more or disinfect over the course of your stay we are providing some cleaning materials and professional standard disinfectant spray in the cottage for your use. These products can be safely used on the surfaces in the cottage and the disinfectant spray is far more effective than anything you can buy at the supermarket. Please do not bring any bleach sprays with you, they will damage the natural stone tiles, play havoc with the septic tank and they won't work as well as the product we supply.

You might notice some changes in the soft furnishings, to make the new changeovers manageable and to follow the guidelines we have reduced some of the items in the cottages.

  • Cushions and throws have been removed from bedrooms - nice to have but not neccessary
  • Cushions in the living areas have been reduced and they are swapped between each new set of guests
  • The paper leaflets have been removed, the Green Guest information file is swapped between each set of guests and we have also developed a digital Guest Information Guide - https://secure.mystayplanner.com/www.broadgatefarmcottages.co.uk/ You need your booking number and email address to register
  • Please note we will not be disinfecting the books and games in the cottage and it is your choice if you use them or not.

In the kitchen we have split the crockery, cutlery, glassware etc into 2 and they are swapped between each set of guests. Items that remain in the cottage between guests are washed. We always have plenty of kitchen items so we have been able to do this without leaving you short.

We do need to keep a record of all guests who stay so will ask you to provide that information shortly before arrival, it will only be kept for the required 21 days and then destroyed unless of course you say that you would like to join our mailing list.

As you can see there will be extra work for us so please bear with us when we can't accommodate an early check-in or a late check-out, if it looks like we will struggle to have everything ready for 4pm on a particular day we will let you know beforehand. We just want to make the cottages as safe as possible for you.

Life at the farm continues, we will be lambing in early/mid March.

Wildlife on the farm is really thriving after enjoying the quieter environment, the Barn Owls will be nesting again soon, pheasants wander the paddocks and we have more birds than we can count visiting the feeding stations.
