Covid-19 update - Great news - we opened on 4th July!

We have complied with all the requirements, the risk assessment is in place and we have developed a plan in consultation with our team for increased levels of cleaning, disinfecting and sanitising. We will observe strict social distancing and ask that you also comply with the prevailing guidelines. This means that you will need to comply with the guidelines and regulations on how many households can meet indoors. Currently for most of us that is 2 (plus any support bubbles), this will probably change over time so best to review shortly before your planned stay. We now have a digital guest information guide, you will be able to access this directly on your own phone or device rather than read a book. For those that prefer a book we are preparing extra copies so we can swap the Guest Information folders between guests. You can find the digital guide here guests who have booked will need their booking number to register, if 2 families are sharing the house both can register to access the information. There is quite a lot of information in there already but I will add to it over the coming weeks.

What has changed at the cottages?

We have developed new ways of cleaning & preparing the cottages to ensure that we achieve the covid secure accreditation with both the AA & Visit England, you can be assured that we have thought through the risks and changed the way we work.

Check in is contactless, each guest is issued with a personal key code so you can let yourself into the cottage on arrival. If we pop round to greet you after arrival we won’t enter the cottage and we will keep our distance. If you prefer us not to greet you call on arrival 01482 888111/07770 358085 so we can just run through a couple of things with you and answer any questions you might have.

Recognising that guests may wish to clean more or disinfect over the course of your stay we are providing some cleaning materials and professional standard disinfectant spray in the cottage for your use. These products can be safely used on the surfaces in the cottage and the disinfectant spray is far more effective than anything you can buy at the supermarket. Please do not bring any bleach sprays with you, they will damage the natural stone tiles, play havoc with the septic tank and they won't work as well as the product we supply.

The cottage will have been thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected/sanitised before your arrival, all our staff wear ppe whilst they clean and prepare your cottage and have been trained in the new way of working.

You might notice some changes in the soft furnishings, to make the new changeovers manageable and to follow the guidelines we have reduced some of the items in the cottages.

  • Cushions and throws have been removed from bedrooms - nice to have but not neccessary
  • Cushions in the living areas have been reduced and they are swapped between each new set of guests
  • The paper leaflets have been removed, the Green Guest information file is swapped between each set of guests and we have also developed a digital Guest Information Guide - https://secure.mystayplanner.com/www.broadgatefarmcottages.co.uk/ You need your booking number and email address to register
  • Please note we will not be disinfecting the books and games in the cottage and it is your choice if you use them or not.

In the kitchen we have split the crockery, cutlery, glassware etc into 2 and they are swapped between each set of guests. Items that remain in the cottage between guests are washed. We always have plenty of kitchen items so we have been able to do this without leaving you short.

We do need to keep a record of all guests who stay so will ask you to provide that information shortly before arrival, it will only be kept for the required 21 days and then destroyed unless of course you say that you would like to join our mailing list.

It will be lovely to have our guests back at Broadgate Farm and with all the local pubs, restaurants and attractions also open you should have a lovely holiday here in the Yorkshire Wolds

As you can see there will be extra work for us so please bear with us when we can't accommodate an early check-in or a late check-out, if it looks like we will struggle to have everything ready for 4pm on a particular day we will let you know beforehand. We just want to make the cottages as safe as possible for you.

We are now taking bookings for September onwards.

Life at the farm continues, the new lambs are so big now and we were very grateful for the occasional shower which helped the grass grow so we have enough grazing. We have co-opted our daughter Lauren as shepherdess to help Steve out, she has been helping with vaccinations & shearing. Six new piglets have joined us at the farm and they can be seen in the arched building by the Forge or in their outside play area.

Wildlife on the farm is really thriving after enjoying the quieter environment earlier in the year, the Barn Owls are raising young again so busily rushing back and forth from the woods to the nesting box by the Cart House we even had a pair of ducks appear on our garden pond the other night!
