The cottage was warm (underfloor heating), welcoming (quality hamper with delicious products)and had a perfect secure, well fenced garden for our dogs. The village of Walkington was walkable and had 2 interesting looking pubs (we were too busy to investigate) and being so close to Beverley, lovely walks on the common for the dogs. read less

Cooking Christmas dinner was easy having two kitchens.The accommodation was first class and very comfortable.Our Australian relatives were very impressed.     5 star ratingFabulous Cottages, cannot recommend enough! we stayed at Broadgate farm Cottages (High Barn, and The Cart House 4 Bed) for a Hen Do with 21 guests earlier this year and were so impressed we... read morewe stayed at Broadgate farm Cottages (High Barn, and The Cart House 4 Bed) for a Hen Do with 21 guests earlier this year and were so impressed we instantly booked to return on 18th December for a smaller gathering of 9 in High Barn for our annual Christmas gathering.
    Travelling from up and down the country Broadgate Farm is easily accessible, and easy to find, with plenty of parking. The cottages are beautiful, comfortable and very well stocked with everything and more that you might need, especially bearing in mind that whilst there more recently we cooked a full Christmas dinner for 9 with ease, in terms of equipment and space. Our cottages, very cleverly laid out, were 2 separate cottages interlinked by locking central doors that we left open so we could all too and fro as necessary. We had plenty of heat, hot water, towels and toiletries, and found the cottages well stocked with everything needed to keep it clean and tidy during our stay. The bedrooms were plenty big enough with lovely big beds to ensure we got a good night sleep, the the bathrooms seemed endless... every time we turned a corner there was another beautifully decorated wet or bath room which we all felt made a refreshing change! I think the only thing we have omitted to mention is the luxurious corner bath upstairs...simply stunning!!
    Elaine was brilliant, from our initial enquiry to arriving at the cottage, nothing seemed like it was too much trouble, and she was happy to help in any way she could with any enquiry we sent. She popped in to see us shortly after arrival to make sure all was ok, and advised she was around in the farmhouse all weekend should we need assistance with anything.
    We cannot recommend Broadgate Farm Cottages enough... proved by the fact I left my diaries in the front room after having fetched them out from my car as we were busily planning our 2020 Christmas visit before we had even left! We cannot wait to return, the buzz about this place for us is immense!!     read less

The granary is a larger cottage and... read moreWe stayed in three different cottages during a protracted house purchase. The foldyard is disability friendly with a lovely walled garden. The granary is a larger cottage and the forge overlooks the fields with sheep, pigs and hens. All of the cottages are excellent, very well equipped, comfortable and spotlessly clean. They all have an enclosed garden so safe for small children. Our grandsons loved the animals. Elaine and Steve are very welcoming and managed to fit us in at short notice. But is was busy so hence the three cottages. Lovely views and location. Short walk to Beverley Westwood and Walkington village. Three pubs and a shop in the village, lovely food at the Ferguson fawcett. Altogether an excellent stay. Thank you read less

It was great to be able to walk to Beverley across the Westwood and we walked to Walkington for a splendid Sunday lunch at the Ferguson Fawcitt. Special mention for The Barrel pub which was recommended to us by Elaine, a perfect village pub. All in all a fabulous weekend In a beautiful venue. read less

We used the cart house as our main cottage as it has an amazing open plan kitchen, dining and living room space with all bedrooms being en suite! It was perfect! Clean with lovely welcome gifts in each cottage. No hand towel in the kitchen but the cottage had everything else we needed and more! read less

We stayed in the High Barn and the Granary which are next door to each other. The cottages are beautiful, very well equipped, comfy beds, warm and very importantly spotlessly clean. Elaine went out of her way to bring an extra table so we could all dine in the same room together. Lovely views and great location for Beverley. Will definitely be visiting again read less

The Welcome pack was indeed welcoming. The whole complex must be delightful in the summer weather. We like it also because of its proximity to Beverley, and to the village of Walkington, where there are 2 good pub/restaurants. Highly recommended. read less

    I feel a great sense of comfort and ease here it really takes all the stresses of your day away so you can relax and chill and refresh yourself
    There is books to read and games to play or just the TV or dvd
    The WiFi is also excellent
    It's a very quiet and warming place to stay

    Easy reach of Beverly and a short travel to Hull and York
    I have stayed both in the granary and barn cottages
    Roomy rooms and bathrooms which are very elegant
    The beds and bedding are spotlessly clean and very comfortable

    Well deserved ratings for these cottages which are pristine and full of character
    Comfortable with a well stocked kitchen catering for all needs
    A very high standard all round
    The attention to detail is remarkable
    The wooden beams in the ceilings are my favourite
    The decor is absolutely beautiful
    The well tended garden around the property shows the owners take a great deal of pride in their property which not only shines through in the cottages but in the grounds also
    The star ratings for this accommodation are very good but I think that there is a standard of excellence here which should be due a higher status award in my opinion     read less

A group of eight of us, four couples travelled up from the London area for a weeks stay and were immediately blown away by the high standard of our accommodation, we were in the "Cart House" which for a group our size has two large and very comfortable lounges both with t/v, a fully equipped large kitchen/dinning area and four huge en-suite bedrooms all with walk in showers. Parking for four cars was just outside in our own forecourt which led out to the extensive immaculate grounds and with great views all around.
    There were books and games if the weather kept us indoors and plenty of literature on local events and places of interest.
    The lovely small town of Beverly is just a ten minuet drive or you can take the bus, the Saturday market is well worth a visit also the Minster. The Yorkshire coast is not far away as is Hull which is also well worth a visit. There are many places to eat although we choose to eat in, making full use of the great kitchen which was not our original intention.
    We had a day in York about an hours drive plus park and ride and although having been there before there is always something more to see and the National Railway Museum needs more than one visit to take it all in.
    All in all Broadgate Farm Cottages will take some beating wherever our travels may take us.     read less

As we were only a family of 4 (plus a Miniature Schnauzer) we luxuriated in having two full bathrooms, one of which was en-suite, as well as a downstairs toilet. The living / dining room is generously proportioned and supplied with leather covered sofas, and could easily have accommodated double our number.There is also a lot of information on places to visit, walks and cycle routes which was helpful as we had not visited the area before, except for York. Beverley is a very pretty market town, and if you are looking for dog-friendly venue for lunch we would recommend the award winning 'Vanessa's' on market square. The old part of Hull surpassed all our expectations - we enjoyed exploring the streets with it's many impressive public building as well as old warehouses, many of the latter having been turned into trendy eateries, coffee houses and art galleries. We would love to return, perhaps next time with the American grandparents. read less
