Walks from the door, great cycling

The Yorkshire Wolds is a beautiful area of rolling hills and picturesque countryside that is perfect for walking and cycling. There are a range of trails and routes to explore, offering stunning views and a chance to experience the peaceful beauty of the Wolds.

Walking

We have many delightful walks in East Yorkshire including both a 20km and a 8km walk that start and finish at our gate. The Wolds Way National Trail is a 79-mile long-distance footpath that runs through the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. The trail offers a range of landscapes, including rolling hills, meadows, and woodland starting from the Humber in the south arcing across East Yorkshire to the coast above Flamborough Head. You can complete this trail over a number of days or explore some of the footpaths that criss cross the county.

The Wolds Way Short Walk is a 3-mile circular walk that takes in some of the best views of the Yorkshire Wolds, including rolling hills, farmland, and woodland. The walk is suitable for all levels of walker and is a great way to experience the peaceful beauty of the Wolds.

The East Riding of Yorkshire Council have developed a great online resource in the Walking the Riding website where you can find details of walks of different lengths and degree of difficulty.

For those who prefer more gentle exercise there are a number of guided walks around Beverley and Hull - Ghost walks, the Beverley Town Trail and the Fish Walk around Hull. These walks are ideal for uncovering the rich history of Beverley and Hull, the Beverley Town trail helps you explore where the various medieval guilds plied their trade now marked by sculptures and plaques. If you have younger children Treasure Trails have a Spy Mission walk around Beverley, something all the family can enjoy.

As well as the Wolds Way there are some excellent longer walks including the Beverley 20, the Minster Way and the Wilberforce Way. Photos courtesy of VHEY

We have a pack of walks in the cottage available for guests. You should also look out for Wander - a series of sculptures along the Wolds Way all designed to accent the wonderful scenery.
