Broadgate Farm Holiday Cottages - our animals

Pet friendly holiday cottages.

You are welcome to bring one small well behaved pet to stay in our holiday cottages - except The Stables. There is a small charge of £3.50 per day for this facility - please see our online booking section, you can select this option when booking.

We ask that pets are not allowed to go upstairs or in the ground floor bedrooms and bathrooms, that they do not sit on the furniture or are left alone in the property. We also have a spare brick built kennel so if you book The Stables that does not take pets, have a larger dog, or need to pop out for a while there is the option of using this kennel.

There is a local dog walking/ care service in Beverley - please see their websitehttp://www.woofngo.co.uk/home

We are very close to Bishop Burton College for those attending the Canine Behaviour Degree.

Whilst you are here you will be able to see our farm animals and the wildlife in the gardens and paddocks that surround the cottages. Click here to go straight to the wildlife section.

Wildlife

We also have a lot of wildlife around the farm, a wide selection of birds, rabbits, hares, squirrels and deer can all be seen in the grounds.

Steve has been counting the numbers of species of birds we have in the gardens and surrounding paddocks for National Wildlife Week. He has spotted the following

3 prs Jenny Wrens, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Hedge Sparrows (dunnock), House Sparrows , Tree Sparrows, Gold Finches, Chaffinch, Green Finches, Robin, Song Thrush, Mistle thrush, Black Birds (3 prs), Collared Doves, Wood Pigeon & Magpies. We also have Barn Owls and Tawny Owls in the surrounding paddocks.

We occasionally have Carrion Crows, Sparrow Hawks and as yet we have not seen any Pied Wagtails or Greater Spotted Woodpeckers this year but they were here last year.

Pheasants roost in the conifers down the side of the driveway and we have set up a Pheasant feeder in view of the cottages. English partridge are rather fond of our vegetable garden and Barn Owl can be seen covering the paddock in front of the cottages late evenings and early morning. We love living here and try to attract birds by providing nesting boxes and creating the right habitat to encourage good feeding for wild birds.
