York has a rich heritage with Georgian, medieval, viking & roman remains and sites of interest. Approx 45 minutes drive from Broadgate Farm.

York is a delightful city, great shopping and a wonderful place to just wander around. There are many historical features like the city walls, the Shambles (a medieval street) and Clifford's Tower. A York river cruise is also a great way to get a different perspective on the city.

The Jorvik museum is always a popular choice and the Dig is also worth adding to your visit to Jorvik but be warned there are limited places at the Dig and bookings are usually required particularly in the holiday periods.

The York Dungeon is fun for older children and teenagers whilst the Castle museum is also a great place to spend and afternoon.

There is also good shopping on the outskirts of York with the McArthurGlen designer outlet, Monk's Cross and Clfton Moor.

The Racecourse is situated on the edge of the city and it hosts many important meetings throughout the year.

Another Yorkshire city worth a visit is Harrogate, a refined city with lots of lovely shops. The Turkish baths are refreshing! and you can follow in the feet of Agatha Christie who spent time at the Old Swan Hotel in Harrogate.
