Covid-19

Covid-19 update

We are now fully open, we will continue to take a cautious approach and maintain Covid secure ways of working, extra cleaning and disinfecting will remain in place for the foreseeable future.

We are no longer restricted by the 2 household limit or the rule of 6. Recognising that some of our guests may still like to take a cautious approach we will maintain our al fresco dining area in the summer months so that guests booking multiple cottages have somewhere they can meet and dine together outdoors but undercover. Please contact Elaine if you would like to use this area.

Covid Lockdown Guarantee for Future bookings

We have introduced a lockdown guarantee, if we have to close due to government order or the UK postcode on the booking form is affected by a local lock down we will do all we can to re-arrange your holiday. If that is not possible we will arrange a refund of your accommodation costs. See here for more details or read our full terms and conditions

In case you need to cancel due to ill health, self isolation or disinclination to travel we strongly recommend you consider UK travel insurance, there are many policies out there now that cover for various Covid related issues such as illness or self isolation as well as other things like jury duty or redundancy. If you choose not to take out UK travel insurance then you accept responsibility for any loss that you may incur due to your cancellation.

Changes we have made

We have complied with all the requirements, the risk assessment is in place and we developed new ways of cleaning the cottages to ensure that we could achieve the covid secure accreditation with both the AA & Visit England. Although these schemes have now closed we still work to the principles, you can be assured that we have thought through the risks and changed the way we work. As we have re-opened we have re-trained our staff.

The cottage has been thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected/sanitised before your arrival, we continue to use the anti-virucidal cleaning solutions. All our staff wear appropriate ppe and maintain hand hygiene whilst they clean and prepare your cottage. All our staff are fully vacinated andf as we move forward they will not be permitted to work if they have Covid-19.

We offer contactless check-in with an individual key code, if we pop round to greet you we won’t enter the cottage unless masked and we will keep our distance. If you prefer us not to greet you call 01482 888111/07770 358085 on arrival so we can just run through a couple of things with you. If it is wet or cold we will call you or catch up the following day rather than come round to the cottage.

You will need to comply with the guidelines and regulations in place at the time of your stay - if you have concerns please get in touch.

Despite all the extra work involved in the changeovers we are keeping to our original check in/check out times of 4pm/10am respectively, please understand when we can't accommodate an early check in or late check out.

What has changed at the cottages?

Check in is contactless, each guest is issued with a personal key code so you can let yourself into the cottage on arrival. If we pop round to greet you after arrival we won’t enter the cottage and we will keep our distance. If you prefer us not to greet you call on arrival 01482 888111/07770 358085 so we can just run through a couple of things with you and answer any questions you might have.

Recognising that guests may wish to clean more or disinfect over the course of your stay we are providing some cleaning materials and professional standard disinfectant spray in the cottage for your use. These products can be safely used on the surfaces in the cottage and the disinfectant spray is far more effective than anything you can buy at the supermarket. Please do not bring any bleach sprays with you, they will damage the natural stone tiles, play havoc with the septic tank and they won't work as well as the product we supply.

The cottage will have been thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected/sanitised before your arrival, all our staff wear ppe whilst they clean and prepare your cottage and have been trained in the new way of working.

We have reduced some of the items in the cottages.

  • The paper leaflets have been removed, the Green Guest information file is swapped between each set of guests and we have also developed a digital Guest Information Guide - https://secure.mystayplanner.com/www.broadgatefarmcottages.co.uk/ You need your booking number and email address to register
  • Please note we will not be disinfecting the books and games in the cottage and it is your choice if you use them or not.

As you can see there will be extra work for us so please bear with us when we can't accommodate an early check-in or a late check-out, if it looks like we will struggle to have everything ready for 4pm on a particular day we will let you know beforehand. We just want to make the cottages as safe as possible for you.

Wildlife on the farm is really thriving after enjoying the quieter environment, the Barn Owls are nesting, pheasants & partridge wander the paddocks and we have more birds than we can count visiting the feeding stations.

Feel free to get in touch if you just want to have a chat or ask any questions.
